Brad Konik, President
Brad Konik joined GKA in 1997 after graduating from Harvard University. While at Harvard, Brad played hockey and was the 100th captain of the team. Prior to joining GKA, Brad played one year of professional hockey for the Providence Bruins (Boston Bruins minor league team). In 1998, he became Operations Manager at GKA and in 2000 he acquired the company from his father and took on the role of President.
In that role, Brad is responsible for business development and the day-to-day operations of the business. He strives to carry on his father’s vision of establishing long-term client and employee relationships. He is a member of the Minnesota Recruiting and Staffing Association and previously served as its co-legislative director. He is also on the Program Advisory Committee at Dunwoody College.
Brad and his wife, Erin, live in Lakeville, Minnesota, with their two boys. Brad is active coaching hockey and sits on the Lakeville Hockey Association Board. As a family, they enjoy time at the cabin, golfing, fishing and boating.
Tom Goettl, Vice President
Tom graduated from Winona State University in 1997 and has worked in staffing and recruiting for the past 20 years. He joined GKA in 1998 as a Recruiter until 2003, when he left to work for a national staffing company. Several years later, in 2009, he returned to the company as Vice President and Principal Recruiter. Tom returned because of his strong relationship with Brad and his experience of working for a company that is so committed to its employees. In his position, Tom manages the office staff and reviews all new positions and assigns them to specific Recruiters.
As a fitness enthusiast, Tom’s free time is spent working out and training. He has run more than twenty marathons, and his current fitness passion is CrossFit. As one of 15 siblings, Tom has no shortage of nieces and nephews, meaning any extra free time is spent with family and at family gatherings.
Haley Behrens, Senior Technical Recruiter
Haley has ten years of experience in the staffing and recruiting industry, specializing in mid- to senior-level direct hire engineering and manufacturing positions. She is able to attract the most desirable and difficult-to-find executives, including those who are not actively seeking employment. Her creative approach to recruiting, large network of available contacts, well-regarded position within the industry and thorough knowledge of the essential skills required in engineering and technical positions make Haley an invaluable asset to any recruiting effort. Haley is well regarded in the staffing industry and highly involved in organizations such as MNRSA (Minnesota Recruiting and Staffing Association) and MNREC (Minnesota Recruiters).
The Northfield, Minnesota native enjoys hiking and camping with her family and most anything else that involves being outdoors. Haley’s love of animals means she spends much of her free time volunteering for various animal-related activities. Something unique about Haley? She is an identical twin who was born—along with her sister—at only 25 wks!
Tammi Thompson, Senior Technical Recruiter
Tammi joined GKA as a seasoned Engineering/IT recruiter from a national recruiting firm where she was responsible for full life-cycle recruiting of engineering professionals for contract and direct-hire positions. She has strong experience in providing clients with turn-key recruiting services — from sourcing and screening to salary/rate negotiations to preparing candidates for their first day of employment. Prior to her position at a national recruiting firm, Tammi held recruiting positions at Farmers Insurance and Doherty Employment Group/Top Talent Solutions. As an Engineering Recruiter at GKA, Tammi is focused on connecting Minnesota and Wisconsin companies with the short-and long-term engineering talent needed to achieve their business goals. She is a tremendous asset to the firm, excelling at building effective relationships with clients and candidates, which aligns perfectly with our commitment to building long-term relationships core to our success with each and every client.
Tammi has studied at St. Cloud State and Normandale Community College and is a resident of the Twin Cities.
Brittany Nelson, Director of Business Development
Brittany joined George Konik Associates after three years of service with a large national staffing company. During that time, she specialized in generating new business and long-lasting client relationships in multiple geographical markets. Additionally, she successfully opened two new company divisions in the Twin Cities. Brittany is a graduate of Georgia College and State University, where she earned degrees in Economics and Psychology. She is passionate about cultivating meaningful professional relationships and growing George Konik Associates presence in the Engineering and Technical fields.
As a Georgia native, Brittany loves spending time outdoors, enjoying great food, and college football. In her free time, Brittany can be found hiking, fishing, golfing, or cooking.
Jodi Schoenecker, Payroll Administrator
For over two decades, Jodi has played an important role at George Konik Associates. As the daughter of the founder, George Konik, and sister to the current president, Brad Konik, she has a deep and thorough knowledge of the business. She got her start in the business working in administration before going into recruiting for eight years. Prior to GKA, she worked for several years in sales at Coca-Cola. Jodi currently works in payroll and administration, making sure employee information is accurate and keeps track of vacation, holiday and pay for employees.
A native of Bloomington, Minnesota, Jodi attended Bloomington Kennedy High School before graduating from Minnesota State University – Mankato. She grew up in a hockey family and still is part of one, as three of her four children play. As a family, they also like to do anything that involves the outdoors, including fishing, walking and running.
Kelly Schmeltzer, Technical Sourcing Specialist
Having a clean, active and reliable database is crucial for any recruiting agency—and that’s what Kelly has done at George Konik since 2011. She previously spent two years at the agency before taking some time off to raise her two children. Kelly ensures that the database is regularly updated with new client information so that Senior Recruiters have the most current and accurate information upon which to base their searches. Making those placements—helping someone find the best position—is what gives her the most satisfaction and fulfillment.
In her free time, Kelly loves to golf and cook, although she admits she is a horrible baker. She grew up in Le Sueur, Minnesota, and graduated from St. Cloud State University. When she was a kid, her dad flew a Cessna 172; so as a teenager, she was able to take flight school. Flying with her dad is one of her fondest memories. While she has let her pilot skills lag, Kelly hopes to one day take up flying again.
Sam Rima, Technical Recruiting Manager
Sam graduated from Bethel University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science. He started his career off as a Recruiting Associate with YouthWorks, a non-profit organization based in Minneapolis, where he worked for about three years. In 2017, Sam was promoted to Technical Recruiting Manager where he oversees the internal recruiting staff and sources candidates for our client companies. Knowing the most up-to-date situation of candidates allows Sam to support our technical clients as they seek to find the most fitting person for their organizations.
In his free time, Sam enjoys spending time cooking and exploring new places with his wife, Sarah. He likes pretty much every sport there is and also enjoys reading, exercising, and learning new things.
Kyle Fischer, Technical Sourcing Specialist
Kyle Graduated from St. Cloud State University with a Bachelors in Recreation and Sports Management. While at St. Cloud Kyle played baseball and was named Captain his senior year. After his St. Cloud career, Kyle played three years in the Miami Marlins organization, making it as high as Double-A.
Kyle joined the GKA team in 2016 as a Technical Sourcing Specialist. In his role, Kyle focuses on connecting with and getting to know candidates to determine how their skill sets may fit the varied needs of GKA’s many clients. Knowing the most up-to-date situation of candidates allows Kyle to support our Recruiters as they seek to find the most fitting person for each of their positions.
In his free time, Kyle spends as much time outdoors as he can. He loves grilling, camping and hunting. He lives in Eden Prairie with his fiancé and is looking forward to his wedding next winter.
Trisha Evans, Business Development Associate
Trisha brings over 10 years of recruiting, staffing and customer service experience to GKA. In her Business Development Associate role, Trisha mixes her love of building authentic relationships with providing solutions to our customers. She is a firm believer in hard work, lasting relationships and that a good laugh can totally change the course of the day.
Trisha is very involved in her community and enjoys planning community events. In her free time, Trisha enjoys traveling as much as possible, playing piano, spending time with family, and walking her two German Shepherds, Denali and Breckenridge.
